2016 GEW SOUTH AFRICA LAUNCH

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will this afternoon, Friday, 11 November 2016, deliver a keynote address at the official launch of the 2016 South African Chapter of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW2016), at the IDC Campus, Sandton, Johannesburg.

This is the largest gathering of innovators and entrepreneurs, who launch start-ups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and stimulate socio-economic development.

The Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is dedicated to inspire millions of people from over 160 countries through local, national and global activities designed to help them unleash their potential as entrepreneurs and innovators.

This year’s launch of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is part of a buildup programme towards the hosting by South Africa in March 2017 of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC). This will be the first time the Congress will be hosted on the African continent, and is expected to attract over 5 000 delegates from across the world.

Deputy President Ramaphosa will be supported during the launch this week of the South African Chapter of the Global Entrepreneurship Week by Small Business Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu, Gauteng Premier David Makhura, Tourism Deputy Minister Tokozile Xasa and the Global Entrepreneurship Network President Jonathan Ortmans.
