MANUFACTURING INDABA AIMS TO BRING SMALL BUSINESS TOGETHER

The rapid advancement of technology and processes in the manufacturing industry across the world has forced South Africa to consider changing current practices and mind sets in order to be able to compete internationally. At this edition of the Manufacturing Indaba, to be hosted at Emperors Palace, from the 27 – 28 June 2017, keynote addresses and panel discussions will focus on the future of manufacturing in South Africa centered around the role of manufacturing, how to build a stronger manufacturing sector and the growth sectors for the future.

The event, now in its 4th year, continues to be the leading manufacturing business platform encouraging debate, exploring market opportunities for manufacturing growth and providing government with the stage to share the latest policy news with manufacturers, from small to large. With many emerging manufacturing sectors and opportunities developing in South Africa, from fuel cell technologies, electronics, to food and beverages, etc. this forum aims, through the engagement with key stakeholders and manufacturers, to grow manufacturers.

“We want to move South African manufacturing forward and the Manufacturing Indaba provides the opportunity to share knowledge, explore public and private sector collaboration, develop new markets for the sale of products and services and to gain an understanding of the future trends that can impact manufacturing.” commented Liz Hart, Managing Director, Manufacturing Indaba.

The day before this main event, a Small Business Indaba will be held on the 26th June 2017. Understanding the small manufacturer’s point of view on manufacturing issues requires an understanding of the markets for their products, along with many common issues of interest to small manufacturers that need to be addressed. The Small Business Indaba provides a platform for SMME’s to connect with the big players in South Africa’s manufacturing industries as well as an opportunity to learn how to grow and manage their businesses. Leveraging on the success and partnership of the National Manufacturing Indaba, the Small Business Indaba – complete with nationally recognised manufacturing experts, government policymakers and innovators – provides the small business owner with informative keynotes, interactive panels, one-on-one brainstorming and hands-on networking – everything that the manufacturing entrepreneur needs to address their changing business landscapes.

The Small Business Indaba will also take place at Emperors Palace, Ekurhuleni with the main objective being to provide manufacturing entrepreneurs and SMMEs with the tools, networking opportunities and an unparalleled platform to establish their businesses for success and grow their manufacturing operations to the next level of innovation and job creation.
