GAUTENG IDZ FLAGSHIP PROJECT

The Gauteng IDZ aims to be a leading Industrial Development Zone that facilitates and promotes inclusive as well as competitive economic growth and development through focused support to targeted sectors and strategically position Gauteng as a Global City Region (GCR).

The Gauteng IDZ also aims to attract investors through a range of incentives including dedicated customs support services; duty-free importation of production-related raw materials and inputs and reduced tax and exemption for some activities.  The facility supports industrial development in the area and gives practical expression to the plans of turning Ekurhuleni into an aerotropolis.

The GIDZ’s mandate is to establish a purpose built industrial estates within the low mass high value industrial sectors with an export orientation and has embarked on a flagship project – Gauteng’s first mix use Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on a plot of land that is approximately 7 hectares in size, within the precinct of the OR Tambo International Airport and adjacent to Bonaero Park.

In pursuit thereof, the Gauteng IDZ this land has been allocated for domestic and international investors – and In2Food a company that packages fresh food products and exports to markets overseas will be the largest investor in the area.

In2Food supplies a broad range of exceptional products to carefully selected high-end retailers & wholesalers across the world from prepare foods to deli products. Its strongest markets are South Africa, Australia and England.

The Gauteng Industrial Development Zone (GIDZ) is a subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), and was established to develop and operationalise the industrial development zone at OR Tambo International Airport (ORITA-IDZ).
